The Wasatch Mountain Lodge is owned and operated by the Wasatch Mountain Club Foundation, a nonprofit, charitable 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the preservation of this unique building . 100% of the rental fees you pay goes for preservation and maintenance of this historic site. The rustic log structure, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built by the Wasatch Mountain Club in 1929 as a base for overnight stays and adventures in the mountains. The Wasatch Mountain Club Lodge has beds to accommodate up to 20 people. Beds have mattresses with covers, but no bedding is provided. Guests must bring their own pillows, bedding, or sleeping bags. The main floor of the Lodge, which features a large stone fireplace, can accommodate parties of up to 100 people and is ideal for large gatherings, parties, receptions, family reunions, and winter ski trips. Folding banquet tables and folding chairs for approximately 85 people are provided free of charge. An outdoor patio with tables, benches, and a barbecue area is available for summer use. SUMMER: An unpaved road connects the Lodge with the Brighton Ski Resort parking lot. WINTER: There is no motorized winter access to the Lodge. All guests must carry their belongings and food to the Lodge from the Brighton Ski Resort parking lot or transport it using sleds that the Lodge provides. The distance is about 100 yards. The Lodge combines the best of a truly rustic experience with modern features thrown in. The building is heated by a combination of hot-water heating, a forced air furnace in the main room, and a large wood-burning fireplace. (A bundle of firewood is supplied free of charge, with more available for purchase.)

Summer & Fall an AWD / 4WD is recommended for accessing the chalet. During Winter to get into the chalet most people opt for using the "snow car". Transportation for guests and luggage via the snow car can occur between 6am - 9am and 4pm - 9pm. We are not permitted to use the snow car during prime operating hours of 9am - 4pm. The charge is $60 per session, and a session is getting a group of people and their luggage who arrive at the same time up to, or down from, the chalet. If groups are arriving at different times then there would be multiple charges. You would be able to access the chalet at any time, either by taking the lift up and skiing down, or walking up from the parking lot. The walk is 1/4 mile. If you arrive late at night, I would suggest walking up to the chalet (Bring a headlamp); then we could manage transportation of luggage the next morning.

The upstairs level has a 1/2 bathroom, an open floor plan kitchen, dining and living area with a large wall of windows and a spacious deck beyond that overlooks Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is the perfect place to relax and drink a cup of coffee or entertain guests. The cabin is located in Forest Glen, right off of the Guardsman's Pass Road in the heart of the Wasatch Cache National Forest in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is one mile to Solitude Ski Resort and one mile to Brighton Mountain Resort. The area is a mecca for hiking, mountain biking, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and much more. The cabin has a separate private basement apartment that is currently rented out. The only shared areas are parking and the washer and dryer area. Guests will have access to one parking stall at the cabin. Additional parking is located approximately a 100 yards away at the entrance gate. This is a great 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo in Solitude Village. It's a quick drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon, only about 50 minutes from Salt Lake Airport. Our unit Sleeps 6. Two king beds and a pull out hide-bed couch. It's a large corner unit and has a large deck. There's a good view of the ski hill, a large hot tub just down the stairs and Club Solitude access, which is a short walk. The unit has 3 TV's and a gas fireplace, leather furniture. Club Solitude has a large outdoor heated pool with 2 hot tubs, billiard room, exercise equipment, and media room. The unit has a fully equipped kitchen and dining table. Powderhorn has its own parking garage. If you are trying to decide between Solitude, Brighton, Snowbird or Alta, you are on the right page. This makes a great base camp for all 4 resorts. Our unit is a short walk to the lifts at Solitude and less than a 10 minute drive to Brighton. Solitude offers all levels of skiing from beginner to long, fun intermediate, groomers, and if terrifying steep and deep terrain is your thing, we have that too. The owners are avid skiers and can take you to some of the best hidden powder stashes available-just ask. This is a non-smoking unit/building. No Pets. We live here on the weekends when it's not rented, and live at the base of the canyon the rest of the time, so if anything comes up, we are ready to help. Solitude is high in elevation so you may notice slight differences if you're coming from sea level. We hope you enjoy your stay!
